Ladies please, please, please take some time to let this one soak!!!

Somehow there are still brides and bridesmaids out there that expect their dresses to arrive as soon as yesterday. As frustrating as waiting can be this is one you are going to have to tough it out if you want to order regular bridesmaid dresses or your wedding gown. Even at places like David’s Bridal you will have to wait a period of time for a dress order if they don’t have your size or color and the regular bridal boutiques require a MINIMUM of 3 months… Instead of letting the wait time crawl under your skin turn it into “peace of mind” time…meaning you are making a quality choice and all that money you put into it will be worth it. I couldn’t imagine paying $600-$6000 for a dress that only took one-two weeks to make…uh no!

Oh, and the lovely dilemma of dress sizes. Know that wedding gowns and bridesmaid dresses typically run 1-2 sizes smaller. They are the truest to “real” sizes we will ever get. So don’t let the size get to you when the consultant takes your measurements or if they recommend you go up a size. With your bridesmaids, please make sure they go into a bridal boutique and get measured professionally or go to the store you are putting in the order to try  sizes on before ordering. Too many a time bridesmaids give the wrong measurements for the order and when the dress comes in they are upset and there is no time for re-ordering. Not the tension you want to have when the big day is near. This brings up another point, let them take care of sizing and ordering instead of you…this relieves you of any blame if it doesn’t fit.

Another road block brides run into is the order of a dress/dresses vs. ordering and paying in full. Most stores will put in the order for your wedding gown or bridesmaid dresses but will not actually send the order out until the order is paid in full. What does this mean? This means you need to make sure you calculate your wait time into when you can pay your gown off and you also need to thoroughly explain to your bridesmaids that not one dress can be shipped until ALL dresses are paid in full, so know the deadline and get those payments in!

Okay so you get it! Plan ahead and make sure you and your bridesmaids clearly understand the time-line you are on for ordering your dresses and stay calm. The wedding industry is quirky and money thirsty but the people helping you actually do want to help you and make your experience pleasant. They are doing their job to their best ability and do what they can to make your wedding the absolute best!  Alright, now go have fun with your dress styles, be unique, be elegant, and most of all…be yourself!

Calling all Colorado Brides!!!

What was unique about your wedding?

MyWeddingInColorado.com is looking to feature Colorado’s most unique weddings as we approach the end of summer. We know every bride adds a fun twist to their special day that makes the event stand out; whether it’s their theme, decorations, accessories or even how they saved money. We want to find those creative brides and honor them on our website.

Share your story with our staff and you could be one of the top three that are chosen to be featured on our website! What does this mean? This means our staff will conduct interviews with you and your new honey to find out what made your day special, create a five minute video with your favorite wedding photographs and top two songs and add your story to our website where your friends and family can once again enjoy the love and energy you put into your wedding day.

What do you do now?

1.      Describe your wedding in 500 words or less.

A) When and Where did you have the wedding?

B) What was special about the venue?

C) What made your day unique?

2.      Choose three wedding photographs that reflect your description

3.      By July 25th send the following to our staff via email at mail@myweddingincolorado.com

We look forward to hearing from you soon!

Now, remember that you are coordinating a formal occassion that involves the combination of very specific traditions and events. And when you have a large group of guests made up of your friends and family it is crucial that you give them a little guidance of what to expect when they arrive. Plus it provides a little entertainment while they anxiously wait for things to get started. Remember the last wedding you attended…you have to admit that everyone including yourself wanted to know what was going on and who was who, thank goodness for that program, right? A wedding reminds me of a theatrical production or classical concert. When you hand your ticket to the usher you receive a program in exchange. So as you are sitting in your seat you can see where things are headed and what to expect. You can even look up the names of the performers and songs.

You can tie any theme into your program, so have fun with it. You can have a modern trendy look, magical and romantic, simple and straight forward, silly…etc. Think about what you both are passionate about, how you met, favorite movie, where you come from, wedding theme or even your honeymoon. Oh, I almost forgot the best part, you can create the program yourself saving another cost. Yes!

My husband and I combined the following into our program:

  1. Wedding Date and name of venue
  2. Schedule of wedding events (when and where things were going to happen)
  3. Names of parents and grandparents, wedding party, vendors, performers and songs
  4. Picture schedule (a little insert that had the order of pictures that the photographer will take)
  5. How we met
  6. Engagement pictures
  7. AdamandLauraKraft.com link (recommend creating a website to for future updates for out of state family and friends)
  8. Thank you to the guests

Here are a few shots of our program. We used references from the movie “The Princess Bride” since the whole reason we started dating was because my husband reminded me of Wesley and all I wanted to hear him say was “As you wish”. We both love the movie and are very romantic. Using Microsoft Office Publisher we created a theater program with 3 Acts, Intermission, Cast, Crew and Sponsors (Adam and his family are heavily involved in theater). Most of the images were our engagement pictures too (a nice way to incorporate those costly images).

Today our company will be attending the launch party for “Wish Upon a Wedding” that is now in Colorado. They are a non-profit organization that is making dreams and wishes come true to those who are fighting for their health and have a guardian angel that loves them so much and is standing right there with them through the fight. A love so true and sweet that nothing in the universe can stop them from loving each other!! To help these two put together an unforgettable wedding is tremendous and heart warming. I look forward to learning more about the foundation and how MyWeddingInColorado.com can also be a part of this amazing program! If you are interested in the event and want to attend please go  http://wuwcolorado.eventbrite.com/?ref=esfb

Here is a little about the foundation:

Making Wedding Dreams Come True Across America

“As the World’s first nonprofit wedding wish granting organization, Wish Upon a Wedding provides weddings at destinations across the United States for individuals facing life-threatening illness.  It is a chance for couples to enjoy a very special day, without any thoughts of existing health issues, while surrounded by their closest family and friends.

By celebrating the courage & spirit of these couples, we help create lasting memories that will be cherished for years to come. It is our hope that others facing similar situations will find hope, strength, and the promise of eternal love.”

So he popped the question, you ‘ve announced the engagement to your closestfriends and family and you are off to planning a wedding. If you are not going to hire a live wedding planner and choose to handle the details with your handy wedding planner from Amazon or your local book store then keep reading.

You see the many wedding planners you have to pick from are outstanding and you really can’t go wrong. They have the famous “to do” and “when to do” lists with advice on etiquetteand trackers for your vendors. Then you have the monthly calendar to keep track of your appointments and time lines. I personally recommend that you find a wedding planner that also has a pocket calendar that you can slide into your purse or the pocket of your daily planner.

Ladies my daily planner was a life saver. Find a planner that has monthly overview and the weekly timeline with daily hours. It is a peace mind being able to balance your work, family and the rest of your life with the wedding planning process. The regular wedding planners guide you with the wedding priorities but the daily planner will keep you sane!  It’s great, think about it, the two of you lovebirds can sit down on Sunday nights (or the night that works best for you) and plan, do, review. You will find the tension and stress levels will decrease and your intimacy will increase. When my husband and I sit down together to plan our weeks and discuss our goals and “to dos” we appreciate each other so much more. Plus you can turn it into a romantic event. Cuddle up on the couch, make a yummy drink (hot chocolate or wine…) and snack, and plan away. I have to admit our sweetest conversations came from these planning sessions.

Okay, so ladies you get it…right? The daily planner will be your best friend during your engagement! You won’t miss the little things, like appointments and ordering deadlines, and your fiance will love the low levels of stress.

Weddings resume after temporary bridge installed

BOULDER – The historic Red Lion Restaurant has found a way to repair a washed out bridge that forced couples to relocate their weddings for the past 10 days.

When the water in the Boulder Creek rose quickly it flooded the bridge from Highway 119 to the mountain resort almost two weeks ago.

As a result the Red Lion had to relocate four weddings.

“We only had a couple of options when the state and county claimed they didn’t own the bridge,” said owner Chris Mueller.

“I was ready to pack in after 47 years of hosting weddings and serving dinners at the lodge across the creek, but when the idea of putting an flatbed rail car over the creek came up, it sounded like something I could do to save jobs and the business I love.”

After finding a car in Gilcrest Tuesday, Mueller decided to give the flatbed a try.

When it was towed up the canyon Thursday and put into place Friday morning, it all seemed to work.

The first wedding since the bridge was torn out went off without a hitch as Nicolle and Matt Ertl exchanged vows under a beautiful Colorado sky.

More than 100 of their guests were shuttled in since the bridge still does not have clearance to hold vehicles.

When the business resumes to a normal pace, they plan to put a second bridge.

It would be placed next to the one that is already there and will allow for two-way traffic over the creek.

As for now, weddings are back on for the rest of the summer.

In the “big” city of Denver Colorado there are several salons Colorado Brides can stop by for a manicure or pedicure for a great price or they already have their favorite manicurists, but Sweet Life Nail Bar and Lounge has an edge, a gentle one, that just might change their mind. Take a moment away from the Downtown Denver craze and relax. It starts with the toxin-free, long-lasting, many-colored Zoya products that owner Diane Bilello insists on using, which leaves the Stapleton salon virtually odorless, a novelty in and of itself. But then sink back on this: Sweet Life’s lounge-like atmosphere, replete with overstuffed armchairs and warm lamplight instead of fluorescent bulbs, takes the hurry and stress out of having your nails done, especially when you throw in a glass of wine, mimosa or Grey Goose martini from the bar. Essential Mani/Pedi starting at $40!

So make your reservation for the big day and slip into bliss before you put on your wedding dress and walk down that aisle with style. Because no matter if you are having a Colorado Country  wedding or a Colorado Mansion wedding you will want your toes to look great!
